Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!  I hope you enjoyed a relaxing, fun, and adventure- filled summer with your friends and family.  It is a pleasure to be with you for the third year now and teachers, staff, and I look forward to a great year of learning and growing.

Teachers have planned and worked tirelessly over the summer to make sure your child’s school year is filled with learning experiences that are engaging and develop the critical skills necessary to become independent and responsible learners, as well as good citizens.

Your partnership and support is key to ensuring that we are able to maximize every student’s academic achievement and personal responsibility.  The staff and I are looking forward to meeting and working with each family and students soon!

Sincerely,
Margie A. Domino
Principal, Roosevelt School

Parking Lot Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

During morning drop off, cars are to move forward into the “Drop Off Zone.”  Students may exit cars anywhere in the drop zone and enter campus through the south gate near the 1st-5th playground.  TK and kindergarten parents will use the same procedure. Please do not stop or drop off students at the curb as you enter the parking lot.  There will be very limited parking available to be used only if you have school business.  If you would like to continue to walk your child onto campus, please park on the street.  During dismissal, students may be picked up from Gate #1, Gate #2, or the “Pick- Up Zone.”  As student safety is our number 1 priority, please be sure to follow all procedures, use sidewalks, and marked crosswalks.

New VMS System

Visitor Management System (VMS)
Roosevelt School is pleased to announce that we are implementing a new Visitor Management System (VMS) in order to ensure the safety and security of our campus.  Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is on our campus at all times. The VMS will allow us to do just that. The VMS tracks visitors, contractors and volunteers coming into our school and cross references a visitor’s name and birthdate with that of the national sex offender registry. In doing so, the VMS will provide an alert on people who may jeopardize the safety of our campus.

Visitors requesting to enter the campus, will be asked to present a valid, government issued ID, such as a driver’s license, military identification card, passport or passport card, which will then be scanned or manually entered into the system.  The data taken from the ID provided is only for comparison to the sex offender database and the information is not shared with any outside government agencies.  Once entry is approved, you will be issued a printed badge with your name, photograph, the date, and the purpose of your visit.  All visitors are required to wear the printed badge while on our campus.

A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our school simply to drop off and/or pick up paperwork, other items, or your child from the office. Similar to our current policy, visitors will not be permitted to enter campus without valid identification.

The safety of our students and staff is very important to all of us here at Roosevelt School.  Thank you in advance for supporting our continued efforts to keep our school community safe.
